F. Penados, L. Rosado, D. Tzib, and 2 more authors
The number of Belizeans with a higher education according to the 2018 population census stands at 14%. In sharp contrast, indigenous Maya people with a higher education are reported at 5.6%, and in yet another contrast the Garifuna people, another Indigenous report 20.1%. What explains these contrasts? Why do they matter? What are the implications for Higher Education Policy and practice? This article addresses these questions by examining Indigenous Participation in higher education in Belize in light of Higher Education seen as a vehicle for personal realization, achieving greater human and economic development, overcoming social and economic inequality and contributing to greater understanding across cultures.

A Critique of the Dispositional Flow Scale-2 (DFS-2) and Flow State Scale-2 (FSS-2)
Flow is commonly conceptualized as an optimal psychological state characterized by nine interrelated dimensions and is frequently assessed using the Dispositional Flow Scale-2 (DFS-2) and Flow State Scale-2 (FSS-2). Despite their widespread use and established reliability, several conceptual and measurement concerns remain. This paper critically examines the DFS-2 and FSS-2, with particular attention to the interpretation and scoring of flow, the distinction between state and trait flow, the validity of individual flow dimensions, and inconsistencies in the broader operationalization of the construct.
